Students
For students, studying can sometimes be difficult due to psychological complaints. On this page, you can read how Psychiatrie Noord offers support and what possibilities there are within our treatment.
We have extensive experience in treating students with psychological issues.
Psychiatrie Noord helps students who get stuck during their studies or in their daily lives due to a psychological disorder. We only provide specialized mental health care. This means that you have been seen by a general practitioner and that the general practitioner suspects a psychiatric disorder. The referral from the general practitioner is assessed by our psychiatrists, after which you will receive an invitation for the intake of the treatment.
Psychiatrie Noord has an expert multidisciplinary team consisting of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, community psychiatric nurses, psychologists, and psychomotor therapists. Additionally, Psychiatrie Noord has a student clinic for both Dutch and foreign students, called The Student Psychiatrist. We offer treatment in Dutch, German, English, Spanish, and Italian.
Our multidisciplinary team is ready for you with various evidence-based treatments, which can be offered both individually and in group settings.
We treat young adults aged 18-30 with the following disorders:
Mood disorders
Anxiety disorders
Trauma- and stressor-related disorders
Neurobiological developmental disorders (e.g., ADHD)
Obsessive compulsive disorders
Somatic symptom disorder and related disorders
Introductory Interview (intake interview)
Studying abroad offers many opportunities for personal, academic, and social development. At the same time, it can also bring challenges, such as feelings of isolation, performance pressure, and cultural differences. When psychological complaints affect your studies, it is wise to seek help in a timely manner.
At Psychiatrie Noord, we offer an online introductory interview to assess whether psychological support is suitable for you. There are no costs associated with this interview.
How do I schedule an introductory meeting?
You can contact our secretariat for this:
Email: info@psychiatrienoord.nl
Phone: +31 (0)50 – 2115373
What is the purpose of the introductory meeting?
The purpose of this meeting is to determine whether there is a good match between you and Psychiatrie Noord. During this meeting, it is not yet guaranteed that you will receive treatment. After the official triage process, it will be determined whether treatment is possible.
What happens afterwards if you qualify for treatment?
A referral from the general practitioner is required for treatment. If you do not have a general practitioner, we can help you find one. After receiving the referral, the official triage follows. This can have two outcomes:
You are invited for an intake and treatment
Your request for help does not fit within our treatment options, after which we inform your general practitioner about this
What do we discuss during the introductory meeting?
Who you are, what motivates you, and what complaints you experience
Who we are and what treatment options we offer
For which insurances we can provide care
