Waiting time

Psychiatrie Noord maintains a waiting time based on agreements with health insurers. We have a contract with all health insurers.

At this moment, we receive many referrals with a suspicion of the disorder ADHD. The amount of diagnostics for ADHD results in a longer waiting time for this disorder.

The waiting times are an indication of the current situation. However, this can vary per week.

Treatments

The following disorders can be treated with us:

• Mood disorders

• Anxiety disorders

• Trauma- and stressor-related disorders

• Neurobiological developmental disorders (e.g. ADHD, Tic disorder, ASD)

• ADHD

• Tic disorder

• ASD (diagnostics and short-term psycho-education)

• Obsessive-compulsive disorders

• Somatic symptom disorder and related disorders

The treatment process

The treatment at Psychiatrie Noord consists of different phases.

1. Diagnostic phase: In this phase, the intake interview takes place. If necessary, additional research is conducted, after which a diagnosis is made. Then an advisory discussion follows, during which the treatment plan is discussed with you.

2. Treatment phase: After the advisory discussion, the treatment phase starts, during which (a large part of) the treatment takes place in group form.

ADHD collaboration with the GP

As an institution, we follow the procedure that medication management is part of a broader treatment trajectory, where transfer to the GP after stabilization is part of the care process. We aim for good coordination with referrers and GPs, with the common goal of providing appropriate and workable care for patients. The following principles apply:

1. Psychiatrie Noord may initiate medication (after diagnosis and treatment).

2. The transfer to the GP is clear and any medication is stably set.

3. Psychiatrie Noord is easily accessible for advice.

4. Easy referral back to Psychiatrie Noord is possible.

5. Psychiatrie Noord offers further training for GPs.

If a GP does not wish to take over medication management for ADHD, then it is not possible within our institution to assist patients with ADHD diagnosis and treatment.

The NHG guideline provides GPs with the space to decide not to take over medication management for ADHD, if justified. However, in practice, this means that if the GP indicates in advance that they cannot or do not want to take over medication after stabilization, it is not possible within our institution to initiate a medication treatment.

ADHD diagnosis and treatment

Within our institution, we offer careful diagnosis and treatment of ADHD, including - if indicated - the setting up of medication. After a period of monitoring and dosage determination, we aim to establish the medication stably.

Team Psychiatrie Noord

Psychiatrie Noord has an expert multidisciplinary treatment team consisting of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, healthcare psychologist, psychologists, social psychiatric nurses, and psychomotor therapists. Additionally, Psychiatrie Noord has a student clinic for both Dutch and international students, named The Student Psychiatrist. We provide treatment in Dutch, German, English, Spanish, and Italian.

Psychiatrie Noord is characterized by offering a diverse and evidence-based treatment offering in accordance with the respective guidelines. Tailored to the patient's request for help, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR, ACT, psychomotor therapy (PMT), or pharmacotherapy is used.

Treatments can (partially) take place digitally.

Due to the increasing demand for our care, we are unfortunately unable to offer parallel treatment trajectories at this time.

For patients recently discharged elsewhere, consultation and/or referral with the previous therapist may be necessary to ensure continuity of care. For more information or questions, we kindly request you to contact us.
